About Us
The cemetery was opened in 1912. The Friends Group first formed in April 2006 and the first meeting was in May 2006.
The council is committed to improve cemeteries. The Friends Group of Boarshaw Cemetry is open to any visitor, or anybody with a general inetrest in the Cemetery. The purpose of is to improve communications with vistors and other users of the cemetery, to discuss future management of the cemetery and crematorium and to provide a forum for debating priorites and ideas for improvements.
A draft Boarshaw Cemtery and Crematorium 5 year action plan 2008-2013 has been introduced by council and implemented. The intention of the plan is to eventually get green flag status, and to continue to invest and retain the award on annual inspections.
The group has welcomed this initiative, as this will alleviate some of our concerns. The intentions of the draft is for Boarshaw Cemetery to be a welcoming place that is healthy, safe and secure. It is to be clean and well maintained as well as conservation and heritage friendly and to promote more community involvement.
Progress Reports will be minuted at every meeting.
